Augmented Conscious Travel

Augmented Conscious Travel
✈️ Airports are fascinating mirrors.
I took this photo in a boarding queue today.
Nothing unusual: people waiting, phones out, time passing.
But it made me pause.
How often do we trade a real, living moment for a digital reflex?
I’ve been experimenting with something I call ACT - Augmented Conscious Travel.
The idea is simple:
- Stay fully present to what’s around you
- Only use your phone to explore what you’re actually experiencing
No scrolling. No noise. Just curiosity, grounded in reality.
It turns waiting time into observation.
Observation into questions.
And questions into understanding.
This trip suddenly feels… different.
Less consumption. More awareness.
❓ Curious to hear:
Have you ever tried something like this?
Examples of questions I asked myself:
1. 📍 Curiosity / context
A flight to Emerald, QLD.
A friend just built a taxi app there using AI.
Where exactly is this town, and what kind of place makes that kind of initiative emerge?
2. 🍞☕️ Decision-making / self-awareness
You’re hungry at the airport.
$9 brioche toast or a $7.90 flat white?
Or neither . . . what’s actually driving your choice in that moment?
3. 🎺🔊 Social behaviour / norms
Ever noticed how people feel oddly uninhibited in airport bathrooms?
What changes in our behaviour when anonymity and transience kick in?
